The genus Hednota has about 60 named species. Some of them are similar looking moths with a series of longitudinal yellow-brown and silver-white streaks on the forewing. They are hard to tell apart even with a bunch of specimens and a microscope to look them over in detail. Seven of these species have been recorded in the ACT and there are probably others.
