Moss Vale

Moss Vale Landcare Group works on restoring Whites Creek, the main creek that flows through Moss Vale. This area has been weeded, had large invasive willows removed and replaced by local endemic species. Following more than 15 years of restoration work, the creek has significantly better habitat values with more birds and other wildlife observed utilising the area.

I added the species to the system and confirmed. I also included a note under the species page which briefly explains the name changes/taxonomy.

Himantopus leucocephalus

There is some confusion about this bird as it is undergoing a name change in some quarters. The black winged stilt species exists outside of Australia and the Australian bird is considered by some as a different species and should be called White headed Stilt Homantopus leucocephalus. Perhaps this bird needs to be listed under both names with an appropriate note.
