Common Garden Skink, also known as Pale-flecked Garden Sunskink, is in the genus commonly referred to as ground or sun skinks (Lampropholis) which contains fourteen species. Lampropholis belong to Eugongylus Group of skinks.
Common Garden Skink is names after French zoologist Antoine Alphone Guichenot (1809-76); several species commemorate his name. Despite its commonness it is one of the prettiest skinks of skinks with its blue flecked appearance. With a little patience it is easily recognisable.
