User's notes

Over the last week or so when we have been walking the dogs along the track behind the shed, I have noticed a male Gang Gang follow us from tree to tree which I had never observed before up until now. On Sunday the same thing happened so I noted where I first saw him then went back later to have a look around to see if there were any hollows that I may have spotted them in previously. I decided to check a hollow we had been poled with the camera last season and whacked the tree with a stick, I stood back to have a look nothing stuck its head out of that hollow but suddenly in the tree behind a male Gang Gang appeared out of a hollow and then a female gang gang flew in as well. I hung around for a little while to observe them from a distance and they both started preening each other then the male started to chew bark off the outside of the hollow and take it down inside the hollow. He did this a few times then stayed in the hollow and never came out again. The female sat outside for a while and I decided to leave them as I didn't want to bother them too much. I went up and had a peek again half an hour later and there was still no sign of the male but the female was still sitting on the outside of the hollow. I have seen a single female feeding alone and coming into our bird bath over the last couple of days previous so maybe they are nesting there?
