This is almost certainly a Shouldered Brown, the wing markings of the Common Brown are different, particularly the underside where the arrangement of the 'eyes' is quite different. The females (which I could not photograph) are more or less similar to the males, except for being paler; the female Common Brown is very different from the male.

Hi Boobook38, your sighting is of a Spotted Brown. Even though the robot is a bit off with the H. merope suggestion it is learning with each posting.
