In spite of the first impression I am not at all sure this is P. curta. The labellum is quite pointed which is not the case with P. curta, some claim the labellum always twists to the left when viewed from the front and this to the right. The Labellum appear too long and the sinus is not bulging with what we can still see of the free lateral sepal points they appear too long. With all that said what then is this species?
I am certainly not sure what it is. The twisted labellum took me down the P curta path. There are P acuminate nearby by, but growing seperately. They exhibit a sharply pointed galea and straight labellum. Some variation of P acuminate? or?
I had considered P. acuminata as a very strong possibility but as this flower has go over its best it is harder to be sure. It would be worth comparing the leaves of both populations. The labellum and sinus both would appear like P. acuminata as would the flowering time. I am reasonably sure this is P. acuminata but a little grazed and a little worse for wear, faded with age?
I will go with that. I think age has distorted it! Other P acuminata in the area are in all forms of health from robust to well aged. Should get out there mid week and will have a close look at the different populations. Thanks
