Bit of a guess as to ID.

You're correct, it's a juvenile Mountain Dragon and a very young one, that's probably recently hatched. The sides of the base of the tail are a good place to get close-up shots of in this species (or at least in focus and well illuminated) in order to help confirm ID. Rankinia diemensis can be distinguished from other similar looking dragon species in this part of the world by rows of enlarged spinose scales.
