received mail recently from buprestid authority Peter Lang (via I-Naturalist); it reads

"This matches syntype material of Melobasis pretiosa at the SA Museum (and M. fasciata is a junior synonym of M. pretiosa). It is not the same as M. sexplagiata. See: https://syzygium.xyz/buprestidae/species.php?species=Melobasis_pretiosa"

for your information/action

Melobasis sp. (genus)

Sorry but though this might be the asserted species, the only way to determine most of the Australian Agrilus to species is to key it out with the specimen in hand, preferably using a stereo microscope.

Agrilus hypoleucus

Though indeed a clearer pic would be nice, this is not Castiarina octospilota, most likely it is Castiarina australasiae.

Thanks Mark

All identification of Anilara species should be regarded as uncertain at best given the genus has not been revised for around 100 years and there are probably 3-4 times as many valid species as there are currently available names.
