Rare image record of Lace Monitor raiding Rosernberg's nest

User's notes

I seen this smaller Rosenberg's monitor near the nest earlier in the year before feb 2018 and the hole on termite mound closed off all fresh though when i returned on this day i noticed the larger one prob a Lace monitor helping itself to the nest like it was eating but i am not 100% sure. as i observed i noticed the smaller monitor come out pacing up and down the fire trail before going up behind and on top of the termite mound everything i tried to document in photo it was very stressed and not happy. pretty sure it was the Rosenberg nest.

Lace Monitors have been recorded previously raiding nests of Rosenberg's Monitors, which is what this is I believe. Terrific sequence of photos @poida84. This is the time of year when Rosenberg's have just finished laying. Their nests are vulnerable to either Lace Monitors or cannibal male Rosies and so the female Rosies tend to remain nearby to guard their nest. They can successfully drive off a larger male Rosie, although they are sometimes seriously injured in the process, but this large Lacie must have been too much. @poida84 it would be great if you could submit this under both species names.
