Easier to move the fly, maybe? Fortunately, I think the hover fly was dead by that stage! When I first saw the pair, the fly was impaled behind the head. I've added an extra image, the last I took, showing the assassin and prey beneath the flower. I wonder if the assassin detected my movement as I photographed and wanted to go to a safer place to feed.
