East Kangaloon

East Kangaloon is characterised by fertile Basalt-derived Ferrosols and rolling green hills with lovely remnant tall forests and pockets of remnant Robertson Rainforest.

The Robertson Environment Protection Society has worked in this area, however now mostly works on Council-managed land and the local Robertson Nature Reserve.

Agreed.
Beneath this tree the capsules (fruits) and old leaves will remain and provide us here with the evidence basis we require to independently identify this to the species.

The orchid nomenclature has of recent times been in a state of flux, particularly as DNA has allowed new science into their relationships and origins. While there is a national body whose job it is to make recommendations based on the most recent science it is up to state bodies to accept or reject that advice hence the inconsistencies. Before his retirement some years back, it was David's job to make those recommendations and more recently Mark Clements had that job but he has also retired at the end of last year. In Victoria they have adopted calling all greenhoods Pterostylis but there are good scientific reasons to subdivide and Diplodium as a group are different and have been different/separate for a very long evolutionary time. In time hopefully we will correct some of these anomalies but as you say "what the program allows" or currently allows. Great find and photo.

Correct. I am new into native orchids and I am going by the recent David Jones publication. Some disagreement with D Jones I hear, so can only go with what the program allows!
