User's notes

Large flock of Noisy Miners and gang-gangs attracted me to TREE 3 about 50m away in the SOUTH BLOCK of HGW - Shooed nearly all miners away (I have attached a picture of one last one), gang-gangs remained (never scared by noise) and left them to it but I am sure the miners will be back in full force! There has been a definite increase in Noisy miners in HGW over the past few years.

Noisy miners and many other factors are contributing to the reducing numbers of the endangered Regent Honeyeater in parts of NSW (see Article: Doug Gimesy, "Beauty on the Brink" in Australian Geographic Jan/Feb 2021). In the Woden area since the Indian Mynas have been almost eliminated the noisy miners have taken their place. Walking around the streets recently looking at the gardens, the main birds present were noisy miners!
