Hi Span102. I think this interesting insect is likely a cranefly, as you suggested. Your photos show what appears to be a haltere just below the wing stubs(?) and the abdominal pattern is similar to some limoniid craneflies.
Based on the ID of the more recent sighting (3 March 2023), I tried to update the suggested species name to Ischnotoma (Ischnotoma) eburnea. This name is not an allowed option for SHNM, so I've added the name as a comment.
