User's notes

I spotted 8 Glossies in a grove of Allocasurinas, on my neighbours property, they had spotted the birds there a couple of weeks ago and I have also seen them flying from that direction in the past. There were 3 distinctive groups. 2 groups were female, male and Juvenille the other group was male and female. Tried to get photos of both sides of females. One group were low in a feed tree eating, the other 2 groups were sitting close to each other higher up in a gum tree. I have sent the rest of the photos to Glossies in the Mist

To Aussiegall….a great contribution. Why do they always use the left foot to eat?

John Martin undertook a study a couple of years ago on Sulphur Crested Cockatoo foot preference. This study found the majority were left handed. l believe it is similar with a lot of parrot/ cockatoo species.

But the question is why are all the parrots left footed. Its an evolutional problem so far unsolved.

Yes apparently all parrot (and cockatoo) species are mainly left footed. This website poses the theory (from research) that most parrot species have a correlation between foot preference and eye preference (involving the way they eat).
