This was photographed yesterday by Steve Douglas. It was found on a dry ridge above the Wingecarribee River in weed-free heathy woodland.

Could be. The flowers are the right color and subsp. villosa which can have similarly coloured flowers is south of Goulburn. However, to confirm it even at species level, you either need someone who knows the area well and is knowledgeable in the local flora to give it the nod or closeups or comments that give much more detail of how the leaves are arranged and of the fronts and backs of the leaves.

Hi Betty, this observation was made during DPIE-funded research into this subtaxon's conservation status and the sighting was verified by the describing taxonomist, Bob Makinson. There are several historic collections from Berrima but all lack much in the way of detail. Bob had seen only a single, less than healthy plant at Berrima c.10 years ago (not databased until I put it in BioNet for him) and about 1 km west of where I found it. Prior to seeing it myself, I was going to treat this population as 'presumed extinct' or at least as 'potentially unviable due to an apparently very small remnant population that may be too small to avoid in-breeding depression' (we believe it is self-incompatible).
Karen asked if she could post my photo and record of seeing it in Berrima because it might interest some of the people who use this website, and could cause them to try to find it and hopefully detect more of it in that area. My research had no budget for fieldwork, as is the case for most of the projects of that nature, but I did a day or two of field study so that the assessment could be more robust. But because of that limitation, we're keen to get any more sightings, especially if they indicate that the Berrima population may be viable. Hopefully, once the entity is listed as threatened in law, some departmental funding will become available to enable more substantial field survey.
